Kris Boyd has blasted Nick Walsh over the "terrible decision" to book Jack Butland in Rangers' win over St Mirren.

The pundit filleted the referee over the call which was branded "a disgrace" by the stunned former Rangers striker.

Butland was put in the book in the second half after he collided with Toyosi Olusanya after clearing the ball.

A long ball over the top was chased by the St Mirren striker but Butland was first to the ball and hoofed clear.

However, in the action of clearing, Butland then collided with Olusanya who sprinted into the goalkeeper before going down as a result of the coming together.

Walsh then halted play with an expectation that it was simply to check Olusanya's condition as the striker had taken a heavy knock as a result of the collision.

But the referee produced a yellow card for Butland and awarded a free kick to St Mirren - which Lewis Jamieson would send harmlessly into the wall.

Blasting the decision, Boyd said on Sky Sports: "I must say, the decision to book him was an absolute disgrace.

"He's come and cleared it, Olusanya has ran into him. Jack Butland has been booked for that...

"I wouldn't have liked to have seen if that ball had gone into the back of the net from that free kick.

"It was a terrible decision to be honest."
