A Rangers fan group lit up the M8 in the club's colours this morning ahead of today's Old Firm derby.

Rangers take on Celtic at Celtic Park at 12.30pm today in the Scottish Premiership.

Philippe Clement and his players left Ibrox at approximately 10.30am, with supporters outside of the stadium to give them a send-off. 

On the team bus' route to Celtic Park, they may have come across the Union Bears, who have been filmed holding up red, white and blue flares at the side of the Glasgow motorway. Fireworks were also audible.

Shared on social media, the clip shows hundreds of fans standing off the road, holding pyrotechnics for a display of support for their team.

The Louden Tavern posted the video with the caption: "Three cheers for the red, white, and blue!"

Of course, there will be no Rangers fans inside Celtic Park for today's game, with only home supporters allowed inside the respective stadiums for this season's derby encounters.

The return of away fans will be felt next season, with 'European allocations' set to be the expectation from either side of the divide. 

Rangers head to Parkhead knowing they realistically need to win to keep their Premiership title hopes alive.

Brendan Rodgers' side are three points ahead of their city rivals, and also boast a better goal difference.

Meanwhile, if Rangers put Celtic to the sword at Parkhead this afternoon then do not be surprised if their manager Philippe Clement strides out into the centre circle after the full-time whistle, holds his arms aloft a la Maximus Decimus Meridius and asks the crowd defiantly, “Are you not entertained?”

Clement, sounding every bit like the fictional Roman general from the Oscar-winning Ridley Scott movie, compared professional footballers to modern day gladiators at Auchenhowie yesterday and the stadiums they play in to colosseums as he looked ahead to the cinch Premiership match in the East End of Glasgow today.
