Rangers transfer target Jose Cordoba was left out of Levski Sofia's squad for their latest match as he appears to edge closer to confirming a £3 million move to Ibrox.

The Panama international has been strongly linked with a move to Glasgow amid reports manager Philippe Clement has held talks with the central defender.

And the 22-year-old might have kicked his last ball for the Bulgarian club after he was left out of manager Nikolay Kostov's squad entirely for their weekend goalless draw with Cherno More.

Cordoba trained with the squad ahead of the game and was cleared as being fully fit, but was omitted from the squad for the trip to Varna and manager Kostov refused to give any reason why he didn't include Cordoba.

Levski still have three games left this season, but have nothing to play for as they sit in fourth place and are 11 points behind third spot.

Cordoba was reportedly invited as a guest of the club to attend Rangers' 4-1 victory over Kilmarnock last Sunday and seems certain to clinch a transfer to Glasgow as part of Clement's rebuilding for next season.

He won the Bulgarian League Best Defender award last year and has ten international caps to his name.
