Rangers have announced the signing of midfielder Connor Barron from Aberdeen on a four-year deal.

The 21-year-old, who broke through with the Dons in 2022 has played at all levels of the Scottish International youth setup and recently bagged himself an assist against Kazakhstan’s U21 side.

Barron has been on Philippe Clement’s radar for a number of months now, and the Rangers boss is pleased he has finally got his man.

“We are thrilled to welcome Connor to the club,” said the Belgian to the official Rangers website. "He’s a young talented player with the right mentality who’s already gathered a lot of experience in the Scottish Premiership and in Europe.”

The midfielder played 42 times for Aberdeen in the 2023/24 campaign, scoring once and claiming three assists in all competitions. He also featured in all of the Europa Conference League Group F matches, including a 90-minute performance in the Dons’ 2-0 victory over Frankfurt.

Barron claims he is ‘delighted’ to have sealed his move to Rangers, citing the demand for trophies as a key reason he made the switch.

“I am absolutely delighted,” he said. “As soon as I started talking to the club I knew that this was the place for me to come. Everything seemed right and I think it is the best place for me to be at this moment of my career.

“It is a club where the demand is high to win football matches and trophies and that is something that I really want to be a part of. It was a massive decision for me, but it was made easy by speaking to the staff and the manager and now I can't wait to get started.”

Barron is the Gers' fourth summer signing thus far, following the arrivals of Jefte, Clinton Nasiala and Oscar Cortes.
