Rangers are closing in on the signing of Nedim Bajrami from Sassuolo.

The Ibrox club is set to seal a permanent transfer worth €4m (£3.4m).

Sporting director of the Serie B side, Giovanni Carnevali, has announced that a deal is close to completion. 

He told Sky Sports Italia this evening: “It’s being finalised but still not done. We are working on it. I think we’ll reach an agreement soon.".

The Albania international, who starred at Euro 2024, scored four goals in 49 appearances for Sassuolo, who were relegated from Italy's top tier last season.

The 25-year-old is an attacking midfielder. He's made three appearances for the club so far in the 2024/25 campaign.

He has 11 assists in 100 Serie A matches across his spells at Sassuolo and Empoli, with a switch to the Scottish Premiership imminent. 

Bajrami's contract runs until the summer of 2027.

Meanwhile, Rangers have completed the signing of Neraysho Kasanwirjo from Feyenoord.

The versatile defender, 22, has joined the Scottish Premiership side on a season-long loan. Rangers have an option to make this a permanent deal next summer.

Philippe Clement bolstered his backline after Ben Davies' departure for Birmingham City, leaving the Ibrox side short in that area.

Kasanwirjo, who has represented his country at youth and Under-21 level, began his career with Ajax before switching to FC Groningen and then moving to Feyenoord in January 2023. He also spent last season on-loan at Rapid Vienna in the Austrian Bundesliga.

He becomes boss Clement’s tenth signing of this window and joins Jefté, Hamza Igamane, Oscar Cortes, Mohamed Diomande, Connor Barron, Liam Kelly, Clinton Nsiala, Robin Propper and Václav Černy in committing to Gers.

He told Rangers TV: “I’m very excited to join the club and play for the fans. I spoke with the coach who had a good feeling, and the most important thing for me is to play and help the team as much as I can.

“Rangers is a really big and traditional club. There are a lot of memories and you need to win games. I want to win and bring the level of the team up, so it’s a good step for me.”
