Tony Bloom should look to invest his money into Rangers and not Heart of Midlothian, a former Hibernian manager has claimed.

The Brighton owner is seemingly in the closing stages of finalising a £10m investment in the Tynecastle club.

The cash injection will see Hearts gain access to the sports analysis software used by Bloom's company, Starlizard, for player recruitment.

This has previously been successfully utilised at Brighton and Union Saint-Gilloise, with whom Bloom has a minority stake.

However, former Hibs boss Jim Duffy can't believe Bloom is looking at putting his money into a Scottish Premiership side that's not Rangers.

He told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard: “I don’t get the Tony Bloom thing at Hearts; they are going to put £10m in and deal with the recruitment.

"Why would you not look at Rangers? They are a huge club and have an unbelievable fan base.

"Their recruitment hasn’t been great, so you go in there with your analysis company and say ‘we will look at the players’.

"You would think that would be something a club like Rangers would have to look at."

It's believed that talks between the Hearts hierarchy and Bloom are at an advanced stage, with a deal just days away from conclusion.

Meanwhile, Rangers have confirmed the date and kick-off time of their upcoming Scottish Premiership fixture against St Mirren.

Philippe Clement's side will host St Mirren at Ibrox on Sunday, October 27.

The kick-off time for the fixture - which had not previously been confirmed - will be at 3pm.

Rangers confirmed the fixture update in a social media post across club accounts.

It's expected Rangers will return to Ibrox for their Premier Sports Cup tie against Dundee later this month after delays to construction work.

However, the Copland Front will be open to supporters for the cup match on Saturday, September 21.
