Ally McCoist has told Rangers fans to 'get off my back' over a misheard Celtic claim.

The Ibrox icon claims his fellow Bluenoses were giving him 'dog's abuse' by accusing him of overlooking Rangers' win against Borussia Dortmund in 2022.

But the Pundit of the Year insists those on his case completely misrepresented what he said while hosting the Breakfast Show on talkSPORT this morning.

With Brendan Rodgers' team in Germany for their Champions League clash with Dortmund tonight, McCoist mentioned that Celtic have never won a game on German soil.

The Hoops have lost nine of their last 11 visits to Germany - a stat pointed out by McCoist while discussing tonight's action with Andy Townsend and Paul Lambert on the airwaves.

Later in the show, McCoist was forced to re-address the topic after he received considerable flak from Rangers fans over something he claims he didn't say, as the 62-year-old hit back, telling them to pipe down.

He clarified: "There's something I just need to say quickly. All the Rangers fans have been on and giving me dog's abuse, because they reckon I missed Rangers winning in Dortmund a couple of years ago.

"But I didn't say a Scottish team. What I said was Celtic have lost each of their last four and nine of their last 11. There was no mention of any other team.

"So get off my back. Dear me, it's bad enough saying Celtic are doing well without the Rangers fans turning on me."

Giovanni van Bronckhorst famously guided Rangers to a 4-2 victory at Westfalenstadion on their way to the Europa League final in 2022.
