Robby McCrorie haunted his boyhood club yesterday as Kilmarnock defeated Rangers 1-0 at Rugby Park.

The 26-year-old - who spent the best part of two decades with the Ibrox club - started between the sticks for Derek McInnes' side, who made it two wins on the bounce in the Scottish Premiership.

Marley Watkins' strike in the 88th minute was enough to seal the win in Ayrshire, as Killie went level on nine points with Dundee in the top six.

It was their first clean sheet of the season, and McCrorie's second since joining the club from Rangers on a permanent deal in July.

He smothered Cyriel Dessers at a tight angle during the first half, while also saving a long-range effort by Vaclav Cerny.

Into the second half, he stopped a snap-shot from Dessers on the edge of the box - which was probably the pick of the bunch in terms of the quality of his saves.

John Souttar was halted at close-range too, while late substitute Hamza Igamane was the closest to beating McCrorie, but his shot trickled wide of the mark.

As seems to be customary for players, especially after a big win like yesterday, McCrorie took to Instagram to celebrate the victory for Killie.

Accompanying three photos from the day, he wrote: "Brilliant team performance!"

And while it may have been said in jest, his former club teammate John Lundstram didn't appear to be best pleased.

He commented: "Couldn’t wait to get this up could you ye muppet."

McCrorie took the comment in good spirit, responding: "Fs Lunny laaaa."

McCrorie was one of many standout performances in the Killie team yesterday, although, man of the match was rightly awarded to Northern Ireland midfielder Brad Lyons, who controlled the middle of the park throughout.
