Sky’s the limit for Aribo
The Nigeria internationalist has probably been the greatest beneficiary of the change in the dugout at Ibrox and the midfielder put in another accomplished performance here.
His strength and ball control make him a fearsome opponent at close quarters, while his footwork and agility mean that he is comfortable taking on his man in a 1v1 situation.
Most of Rangers’ most promising attacking play flowed through the 25-year-old and Aribo’s output in the final third appears to be improving game by game.
Aribo’s skill-set is somewhat unique within Scottish football and if it continues to be nourished, Rangers will have a very special player indeed.
Morelos looking sharper
The striker has frustrated and thrilled in equal measure in what has been a mixed campaign thus far for the Colombian, but Morelos was back to his best at Ibrox after his fitness was recently called into question.
It was Morelos who broke the deadlock towards the end of the first half as he demonstrated clever movement to peel away from his marker and nod the ball home from close range, while the centre-forward’s awareness was on full display minutes after the restart as he picked out Ryan Kent at the back post for Rangers’ second.
Hagi must offer more
The Romanian made an encouraging start to life in Govan and there is no doubting the technical ability the playmaker possesses, yet there remains a sense that there is far more to come from the 23-year-old.
A solitary goal and a single assist in 12 league outings this season is nothing to write home about and Hagi must add more goal contributions to his game if he is to nail down a starting spot.
Hagi’s decision-making and final ball has been suspect on occasion this term and his cause has not been helped by Fashion Sakala’s performances of late. The midfielder needs to provide more – and soon – if he is to establish himself in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s starting XI.
